In which quarter house in Bonifacio?

Travel to Corsica, the extreme south and the cliffs of Bonifacio: here is the area to stay in Bonifacio!

Located on the southern tip of Corsica in front of the Italian Sardinia, Bonifacio is a medieval citadel perched on a steep limestone cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is the southernmost commune of Metropolitan France, with nearly 3,000 permanent inhabitants.

Located in front of the Bouches de Bonifacio separating Corsica from Sardinia, Bonifacio is one of the most visited communes on the island, especially because of its topography, and rightly because: the "spot" and limestone cliffs are simply impressive. Decimated by the plague and ravaged by the wars, Bonifacio had an enlivened and bloody history also because of the Pisan and Genoese lusts, Corsica being a strategic military point in the Mediterranean.

Are you looking for a place to sleep in Bonifacio? This is our mini-guide of the areas where to stay in Bonifacio!

City Centre

The arrival by the south by borrowing D260 is sublime: in the middle of a landscape of garrigue, we see the citadel , tapped on its steep cliffs.

Between the old town and the harbour, one would believe in a small town Italy with its ancient charm, as a testimony of an over-year period. We get very quickly to the multiple stairs and to the paved alleys on the slope – steep! – who walk the city to get to the souvenir shops. The streets, full of pizzerias and other restaurants offer a typical charm and breathtaking views. In the city, don't miss out door of Genoa then explore the Marin Cemetery, the Gouvernail, the Napoleon Chapel, the Monument to the Dead, the Academie du Roy d’Aragon , the Jardin des Vestiges and the Bastion of the Steady .

To feed, target the restaurants of the port and those at the top of the cliff: there is no doubt that there are “tourist traps”. Glue the head in one of the clutches of the Marin Cemetery: you see – and can photograph – the Madonetta lighthouse , located on the other side of the layer. Between the port and the cliffs, you will also find – of course – some hotels where to sleep in Bonifacio.
