Toga, north of the city, is the quietest area to stay in Bastia. Sleeping in Toga requires a rather high budget because it is one of the city’s most wanted. There is the marina and high-end buildings, some cafes on the seafront. If you are planning to go north to Cape Corsica, Toga can be a good neighborhood where to sleep in Bastia, away from tourists, before taking the road to Cape Town.

South of Bastia, and the heights

Located all the south of the city, between the Lupino and Montesoro districts, the south of Bastia attracts rather the middle classes and offers affordable rates to stay in Bastia. Located between the sea and the maquis, it nevertheless attracts more and more people and tends to gentrify. Near the south is the Biguglia Pond Nature Reserve, a protected wetland of 1,790 hectares and containing the homonymous pond. It is the largest wetland in the island, and an emblem of Bastia. The dimensions of the pond, with a length of 11 kilometers from the north to the south and 2.5 kilometers wide, make it a unique haven of peace in Corsica and whose ornithological interest is no longer to be demonstrated. Located from Antiquity by the Romans, the Pisans and the Genoese, it is home to an exceptional biodiversity: the pond is a nesting place for many migratory birds (more than 120 species), also houses numerous reptiles and amphibians as well as an important aquatic flora.

To take a little back and stay in a holiday villa in the heights of Bastia, around Cardo or Suerta, the ideal is to search for holiday homes on Airbnb .
