This exceptional site of the south-east of France will fill your desire for nature, between the emerald waters of the Verdon, the majestic and abrupt cliffs of the gorges and the lights that illuminate the site at different times of the day and during the seasons. We went there in July 2018 and was seduced by this site reminding us of our smallness. Here are the cities and villages where to stay around this exceptional site.

The village Rougon has a natural, civil and religious heritage, a point of access to the unmistakable gorge. By coming to rent a room to sleep in Rougon, enjoy the ruins of the castle, the Tusset Bridge crossing the Verdon and the Pont de Carajuan. Staying in Rougon allows you to walk west of the gorges, to admire the Sublime Point, connecting two hiking paths.

The village La Palud-sur-Verdon (04) is located in the heart of the Gorges du Verdon. Many hotels, holiday homes, hostels and campsites where to stay near the Gorges du Verdon are scattered along the gorge road or in the village.

This is one of the strategic points to explore the Verdon Canyon: the Belvédère de l’Escalès especially taking the D23 to the river. You can go down to the river bed after a hike on the Blanc-Martel trail – 15 kilometers from the Sublime Point to the Maline Chalet – where you can follow the Estellier Bridge by crossing the river. To revive, also take the trail of Bastidon – by the ravine of Mainmorte -, to make a march of more than 1,000 meters of positive denial: weak calves abstain!
