The installation of French artist Charles Pétillon in the famous gallery of the Covent Garden district
On August 27, the building housed the Covent Garden Market and dating back to the 19th century in the eponymous neighbourhood of London has been transformed. The French artist Charles Pétillon has employed twenty-five workers for more than five days to fill the building with 10,000 giant white balloons in a facility called "the heartbeat" ("the heartbeat"). The project is part of Covent Garden’s ongoing cultural program, which aims to transform the neighbourhood into a constantly evolving art gallery, and will take place until September 27th.
"The balloon invasions I create are metaphors" , said Pétillon at the site Design Boom . "Our goal is to change the way we see things where we live every day without really noticeing them. With "the heartbeat", I want to represent the market as the beating heart of this neighborhood, linking its past with the present to allow visitors to reconsider its role in the heart of London's life. »
This installation of Charles Pétillon is certainly a suite in his series Invasions where you can see these clouds of balloons spread where the artist wanted it.
