Cheap car park in Marseille: where to park in Marseille?

Calanques, Vieux Port, pastis and petanque, welcome to the phocean city the time of a sunny weekend without stress with all our tips to find easily a parking in Marseille.

Ah Marseille... With its 57 kilometers of coastline, its 300 days of sun all year round, its singing accent, its local gourmet and friendly specialties and its muddy culture, the phocean city has many advantages to seduce you. And it is no coincidence that Marseille was named European Capital of Culture in 2013: the city is full of surprises.

But as in all major French cities, stationing in Marseilles is sometimes an explosive: between the chronic lack of places, the ever greater number of vehicles and traffic problems, your holidays in the sun could quickly turn into hell. Fortunately, here are all our tips to help you easily find a car park in Marseille, for a weekend or a few days.

Parking in Marseille: park in the street

Parking in the streets of the phocean city is not impossible but can be very complicated: free spaces are becoming increasingly scarce and prices continue to increase every year. With more than 15,000 slots generated by timers, the rates are defined by three zones: the yellow zone, the orange area and the red tracks, reserved for short-term parking.

For the orange area, count 0,50€ for 30 minutes, 1,50€ for 1h, 6€ for 3h and 17€ for 4h30 and more. For the yellow zone, these are the same rates except that you will pay 5€ for 3h and 6€ for 4h. Finally, for the red tracks, you can park for up to 2h30 for 17€. These rates apply from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. except Sunday and public holidays, so enjoy! Attention, however: tariffs are doubled on level 1 ozone alert days.

And most importantly, don’t try the devil by not paying the time: since January 2018, the ScanCars Brigade has watched the grain and swept the streets of Marseille in search of bad payers. With nearly 1500 registration plates scanned per hour, stationing in Marseille can quickly do (very) bad at the wallet.
