Few a time when the trays in the planes had a much better look than what we are serving today... What was eaten well at the time!
Today, when you fly, especially for a long mail, you will naturally have lunch or dinner. Suddenly, then the “trolley” moves into the central aisle of the aircraft, while the stewards and air hostess are working to distribute the famous meal trays, a doubt stirs you: what am I going to eat?
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Scandinavian Airlines, the airline released a series of photos showing the meals served on board its first class between 1950 and 1984. We're letting you go.

A time that the under 30 years old...
It must be said: nowadays, the meal trays served by plane are rarely appetizing and unless they are hungry, it is rare to lick the buns at the arrival of the famous tray. And what about low-cost companies that no longer distribute any meal planes to save on the ticket!
However, it was a time when things were quite different, a time not so distant (this is the 1950s until the 1980s) where eating by air had a true meaning, it even took part in the culture and identity of the airline.

It was the Scandinavian Airlines airline that released its old records, including photographs of times on meals that were served on board.
And all we can say is that the company was not licking on the menu and the traveler knew that he was going to spend a good time, or even a gastronomic moment, could one say: cheese tray, fruit tray, lobsters, seafood, ham cut, charcuterie, two-pound bread, bottles of alcohol...
And sometimes there was even a chef with a toque and apron who was only present for you, to make you pass an excellent flight with the most tasteful dishes. A true feast worthy of the great banquets of Asterix, to no doubt!

What about today?
Although this type of service no longer exists for economic and financial reasons above all, it should be noted that some airlines continue to focus on service and, in particular, on airline meals.
Today, as such, Scandinavian Airlines is listed in Top 3 « European Airline Food Awards » organized by the site Skyscanner in the short and medium mail category. For the quality of the meal trays, it appears on the podium with the Pegasus Airlines for low cost and KLM companies for the long-running one of the best companies.
54% of travellers even believe that the quality of meals served on board is relatively good and close to the three-quarters of the 1,500 interviewees believe that this quality improves from year to year.
The Scandinavian Airlines, therefore, perpetuates, to a lesser extent, the legend that arouses it around its vintage, planky meal trays.
