On the French side, for skiers in Andorra, it is often the ski resort of Grandvalira that is chosen. This area of 210km of slopes and close to the French border offers all the services that can be found in the large alpine stations.

We had the chance to test a stay in Andorra in Grandvalira, Soldeu and more precisely in the Piolets Park & Spa hotel. Soldeu is one of the 6 points that connect skiers to the ski resort of Grandvalira is probably the best in its central position compared to the slopes, its landscape and its tranquility. While Pas de la Case offers more shopping and service centres, it is always possible to get there by bus or car in a few minutes from Soldeu.

Hotel Piolets Park & Spa

This hotel, located a few hundred meters from the slopes, is a well located 4* hotel overlooking the mountains surrounding Soldeu. During our stay in this hotel, we were able to test the quality of the services offered and the tranquility of the place despite the fact that the customer is rather a family and international clientele.

We often tend to say that the Spanish hotel industry is of less quality compared to the French hotel industry. This Andorran hotel raises the level by the number of its proposed activities, its ideal location and its very available staff.

The hotel offers entertainment and recreational services throughout the year. Whether in summer for canyoning, trekking or mountain biking or in winter for skiing, snowmobiling, sled dogs, everything is done to spend a pleasant stay in Andorra. See the list of services offered at the hotel .

Restaurant at Piolets Park & Spa

Most recently refurbished, the hotel features a large restaurant that offers a buffet in the morning and evening, which is very well-stocked and succeeds, while keeping the local specialities on the menu, to enjoy the most difficult. Many staff are available at the restaurant and throughout the hotel.

The + of the hotel

For experienced skiers, you will enjoy the shuttle that brings you and picks you up directly at the bottom of the slopes even if they are finally close to the hotel. Please note also the presence of a ski rental shop in the hotel. Time saving if you need to rent something.

For lovers of tranquility and relaxation, the hotel also offers a SPA space entirely dedicated to relaxation including a fitness room. A massage area with a varied card of relaxing moments is at your disposal. Several swimming pools including a heated outdoor pool allow you to relax after a day of skiing. After 7pm, children are banned in the SPA, an important point for those who do not like to be disturbed .

For family holidays, we are still well served with a play area for the smaller ones. The SPA is reserved for families from 4pm to 7pm and the restaurant also adapted its morning and evening buffet to the youngest.

Les – from the hotel

If the entire stay has been very satisfying, however, a few negative points may be noted which may delight the most tatillon visitor. For some dishes, the food was not hot enough while it is important to eat hot after a day of skiing in the cold. The thickness of the walls is also not the strong point of this hotel with some noise from the corridor or from the adjacent rooms, but nothing insurmountable.

Conclusion / How to get there

Piolets Park & Spa is a very good 4* hotel in Andorra to spend a stay in the ski or mountain. Its location in Soldeu and the many services it offers in the summer and winter make it a place of choice to come with family or friends for a slip or ride session for the summer.

To get there, a transfer is available from Barcelona Airport or from Toulouse by train to Andorra’s Hospitalalet-près-l’Andorre, with a bus that goes up to Soldeu. If you come from Toulouse, you also have the opportunity to take a bus from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport which can stop at Soldeu, or from Matabiau Station. If you come by car, Soldeu is 10 minutes from Pas de la Case.
