The Carnival of Venice , everyone hears about it but what would you say to discover a true carnival atmosphere in one of the most beautiful hotels in the Cité des Doges ?
Located a few steps from St. Mark’s Square, a magnificently restored building revives the glory, splendour and spirit of adventure that reigned in Venice in the 17th and 18th century: the Danieli Hotel. It is in this sumptuous setting in Venetian Gothic style that you can enjoy for 4 hours a fully costly dinner during the course of the next Carnival of Venice .
The history of the Danieli Hotel
At the angle of the Calle delle Rasse and of Riva degli Schiavoni a magnificent palace was erected at the end of the 14th century. His owners were a rich Venetian family, the Dandolos, four of whom were Doges.
Until the 19th century, the palace passed into the hands of different families, knowing from time to time a moving history. But in 1822 Giuseppe Dan Niel, whose nickname was “Danieli” and who was the owner of the hotel of Friuli, acquired the second floor of the palace to make it his particular hotel. Two years later, he bought the palace in its entirety.
At the end of the 19th century, the palace changed its ownership and new, very expensive works were decided to introduce all innovations of the time such as electricity, lifts and steam radiators. The last restoration work lasted until 1948, when Count Volpi became owner of the Royal Danieli Hotel.
A journey in time
From now on, during the well-known Carnival of Venice, take you to the time of the glory of Venice , in the 17th and 18th century and enjoy delicate dishes in a unique setting, all completely masked.
This evening is unique in its genre: in the sounds of a baroque music orchestra, you will be able to attend a masquerade ball in traditional Venetian costumes.
In the Holidays Hall scheduled for this purpose, you will be accompanied by a dance teacher who will take you up the dances at the time like the menuet, the waltz, the quadrille or the dance, just before dinner in this sublime Danieli hotel. The dinner includes the consumption of four dishes and wine.
For 4 hours, you will go back to the time in the fast times of Venice in one of the most majestic hotels in the city. Decorated with glass chandeliers Murano , offering a splendid view of the lagoon, the Danieli Hotel will be the place of all possible places where delicacy, romanticism, beauty and tediousness are combined together.
For the practical aspect, there are only three evenings possible during the carnival of Venice and the costumed dinner starts at 20h precise. It is recalled that it is imperative to wear fully venetian costumes because anyone who does not submit to this “straw code” will be denied the entrance of the palace.
The price of dinner and evening is 290€ per person. Two evenings are on the programme, namely those of 25 and 27 February.
